I've basically kept the entire cough drop industry alive this week. The cough drop industry, and the Tylenol industry. It's hard to get sleep during exams, but I've had to treat myself to 8+ hours lest I die of sickness and exhaustion.
English exam was somewhat of a mindfuck, pardon my French. I filled four blue books in two hours and used up three pencils and half a pen to do so. I have no idea if what I wrote is valuable, or just plain gibberish, but I'm not in a particularly wordy mood right now, so please excuse my lame post.
The combination of having a cold and taking exams has caused me to lose all sense of style, in addition to mental awareness. I've been walking around campus in my oversized army jacket like some kind of caffeine-junkie-hobo looking for a fix of espresso. It's not a proud look, but it's comfy, so whatever. Back to boots and scarves (and one cup of coffee a day as opposed to today's...7...8?) as soon as I get out of this place for vacation...two days? tomorrow? I can't even remember. I think its tomorrow, so long as I finish this Latin paper by the time I go to sleep.
I've been somewhat of a Grinch this week, so I'm going to try to get into the Christmas spirit by stirring a candy cane into my coffee and turning on some holiday music. Just took a sip of the peppermint coffee. I'm officially recommending it. Way cheaper to buy a candy cane than a Starbucks signature drink (and I live in the boondocks, so there's no Starbucks around anyway).
This is slowly tapering into a stream of consciousness, which won't end up being pretty, I can guarantee. So have a good night--- wish on a star, decorate a tree, sing a carol and all that good December stuff.
Ciao,
TB

Home sweet home
It's 1.30 am, and my mom and I just pulled in from our 12 hour drive up from North Carolina.
I am beyond excited to sleep in my own, familiar bed, since we've slept in 4 different hotels on the last
four nights!
But, I thought I'd sneak in a quick post just to remark that road trips truly are wonderful. We definitely rushed through the South, but I liked what I was able to catch sight of on our little stint. (people drive somewhat betterdown there. Unlike in NY, where I was enclosed by 3 maniacal trucks tonight on the parkway. I felt like I was in a video game!)
Saw three amazing meteors/comets/glowing space debris as I was
Driving home tonight, which was pretty cool. I have always, and
will always, believe that wishes on stars come true.
More on my thoughts about karmic action tomorrow. Time for bed!!

In the land of dreams
The sky was the color of eggplant. Stars reflected, writing dreams upon her face. She gazed out there just wondering how to get to the great beyond. She imagined and invented things that she thought might exist....out there.
A place with an endless supply of warm, balmy days. Lemonade glasses so tall and cold, and always full. Toe nail polish that never chipped. Laughter rolling over the mountains, turning every drop of water into a crisp diamond. Running bare-foot through the grass and not having to turn back. A land of sunshine so pure it immediately made your skin golden brown and your hair shiny blonde. Sailboats and fishermen and mermaids swimming alongside dolphins. Shelves stocked with ripe avocados, Colombian coffee and Swiss chocolate. A place where your favorite song, the one your grandmother used to play over and over as she lulled you to sleep, would play on forever, and not on replay. The song would extend forward, continuing into the hills as you danced along at your own pace, just waiting to hear what else the instruments had in store.
The sky looked like eggplant that night. She dreamed. She sent those visions off to the land of supernovas. The place where the Fates sit. The place where the cosmos combine and it all happens.
